“Whole” Campaign

Have you every wondered what being “whole” means?  “Whole” is defined as an unbroken or undamaged state; being in one piece.  The families in Eastern African are far from being whole.  They have been torn apart generation after generation by injustice, poverty, disease, war and genocide.  This cycle has created some of the highest populations of widows, orphans, and teen-led families in the world.  It has left them broken, experiencing deep pain, with little hope for the next day, let alone their future.

CALM believes that in order to break this cycle families must be made “whole” again.  Uplift a Family sponsorships accomplish this mission by reuniting one family at a time with hope, love, opportunity and ultimately their Savior, Jesus Christ.  We have learned that if the family unit can work together to better themselves, the generational effects will be life changing and can impact entire communities.  Through the Uplift a Family program, you can break the cycle of despair and bring wholeness to a family today, tomorrow, and generations to come.

Program Description

Through monthly sponsorships, at-risk families are given the opportunity to live without the constant, daily worry of finding healthy food and adequate shelter…a burden that is all too familiar and too heavy to bear for the people of Rwanda.  Sponsorships provide for the basic needs of sponsored families for a 3-5 year commitment.

During this time, each sponsored family creates a proposal for how they intend to use their funds.  The plan must address their medical, physical, spiritual, educational and life skill needs.  Perhaps the family will plan to use the money on education, or maybe it’s to start a small vegetable business.  Whatever they choose to do, they must make a wise family plan as the funds are limited to 3-5 years.

CALM mandates that all sponsored families meet with the local pastor to discuss a “family plan” and determine how the family will wisely use their sponsorship funds.   This sponsorship program is a great outreach.  It gives the pastors, who we have trained, a chance to share what they have learned and an opportunity to minister to their own villages and communities.

In order to help families achieve their goals, each family may receive educational opportunities and/or the life skills needed in order to become self sufficient and successfully care for their families needs.  CALM encourages families in communities to work together in hopes of a creating a greater well-being for the community they live in.

Want to get involved?  Prayerfully consider becoming a sponsor.  For $50 a month, you can completely transform a whole family now and for generations to come.  Once CALM begins to receive your monthly sponsorship, we will carefully identify a family in need.  We will gladly provide you with a photo of your sponsor family and their bio so that you can get to know your extended family and pray for them specifically by name.  Many of our sponsor families don’t know Christ…yet!

Steps to Uplift a Family

• Setup $50 donation recurring monthly designated for “Uplift a Family”
• CALM will acknowledge via email a sponsorship has been initiated
• CALM will begin the process of connecting you with your family (30-60 days)
• You will receive a picture and a bio, so you can begin to pray for your family
• You will receive family updates via email semi-annually and will have the opportunity to write to your family
