Give a Goat, Give Hope

Our “Give a Goat, Give Hope” program provides goats to widows and teen-led families in need of a helping hand. In order to supply goats to needy, well-deserving families, CALM relies on donors like you to make this happen!

Goats are an easy, inexpensive way to empower widows and teen-led families in East Africa because they require very little upkeep and provide for many of their needs. There are many products that goats produce such as milk, cheese and meat. Goat byproducts can even be used as fertilizer for crops. And since goats reproduce quickly, twice a year, the recipients must donate the first offspring to another widow or family in need. Goats are truly a gift that keep on giving.

As the the goats continue to produce offspring, families can sell them for extra income. With the extra funds, needy families will be able to buy food, purchase necessary medical cards, and provide for the educational needs of the children living in the home.

Net Ministry

Rwanda is 1 of 5 countries in the world with the life expectancy under 50 years. Malaria is one of the key factors causing this alarming statistic. The disease is spread by mosquitoes and the risk can be significantly reduced if people sleep under a net. Quality nets cost around $5 each and can virtually save a life.

Medical Card Ministry

Medical cards are vital for widows and orphans who can’t afford to seek out the proper treatment they deserve. Medical cards allow them to seek treatment at a significantly reduced rate and only cost $20. Medical cards are necessary for the welfare of the those in desperate need.
